What we are not
A quick, explicit list of things we are not.
Because we sit in the same conversational space as franchise brokers and lead-generation networks, it is important to be explicit about the differences. Everything below is a role we do not play.
Franchise Businesses is an independent editorial publisher. The list below describes roles commonly confused with what we do, and explains why each one does not describe us.
Not a franchise broker
We do not sell, broker, or refer prospective franchisees to any franchisor. Brokers earn a commission from the franchisor when a sale closes, which can shape which brands they recommend. That compensation model is not how this site operates.
Not a franchise seller
We do not offer franchises for sale, we do not solicit offers to buy franchises, and we do not act as a franchisor, sub-franchisor, area developer, or master franchisee. Nothing on this site is a franchise offering.
Not a lead generator for franchisors
We do not collect inquiries on behalf of franchisors, sell leads to franchisors, or operate any referral network that delivers prospective franchisees to specific brands. If you submit information to this site, it stays with us.
Not a referral source that earns commissions from franchisors
We do not earn commissions from franchisors in connection with any specific brand. Our revenue — if any — comes from reader-supported programs and clearly disclosed affiliate partnerships with general business-service providers, not from franchisors.
Not an investment adviser or broker-dealer
Nothing on this site is investment advice. We are not registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or any state securities regulator. Franchise ownership may involve an investment decision, but it is your decision, made with advisors of your own choosing.
Not a law firm, accounting firm, or financial planner
We are not your attorney, accountant, or financial advisor. Nothing on this site is legal, tax, or financial advice. No attorney-client, accountant-client, or fiduciary relationship is created by visiting this site or by relying on its content.
Not a substitute for reading the FDD or consulting professionals
Our research is designed to help you read a Franchise Disclosure Document faster, not to replace it. Always read the franchisor's current FDD in full and consult a qualified franchise attorney, CPA, and business advisor before signing anything.
